What are they saying about you today?

viralheat_logoThis posting is probably of interest to larger arts organizations for reasons that will become clear.

Viralheat is a Web service that scours Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and around 30 other video and social media sites to track what netizens are saying about your brand or product. Think of it as a newspaper clipping service for the digital age.

Here’s how TechCrunch describes the service, “Viralheat allows you to create profiles to track an individual’s name or a company’s name across nearly 30 video sites and Twitter. The platform’s Twitter tool provides data on how many total mentions an item had on Twitter for the week and for the given day, the most active Twitter user who has Tweet about a brand, the most common language of Tweets, percentage of Tweets about a brand that are Retweets, the most active day of the week for mention of a brand and a sentiment breakdown of Tweets.”

Viralheat is probably of interest to large arts organisations, first, because, with no disrespect to the work of smaller organisations, it is probably only the household name arts brands that generate enough chatter to make the service worthwhile and, second, while one of the attractions of Viralheat is its low cost, the service isn’t free.

For US$10 per month, you can track 10 profiles; for US$40 per month, you can track 50 profiles.
