The various five "dimensions" or stages of building up your use of IT is summarised here. The stages are a sort of Road Map to help any Arts Organisation with their computing/IT issues. It is designed as providing guidance to management on how to get the best out of their information Systems and Technology assets.

The stages are designed to provide specific help on:

  • What does the Arts Organisation need to manage its IT?

  • How to achieve the best results?

  • What needs to be done on a regular basis?

  • How to achieve realistic resourcing?

Benefits are expected to be:

  • More productive use of scarce resources in Arts Organisations including funding for IT projects

  • More rapid development and implementation of systems

  • Fewer costly IT mistakes

  • Lower cost of ownership

  • Improved control of IT direction

  • Improved quality of information

  • Access to strategic expertise in the WCIT

There are five important "dimensions" to this growth:

  • Information (Computer Hardware and Systems Software)

  • Information Systems (Application Software)

  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

  • IT Skills of specialist IT Staff

  • IT Skills of non-IT staff

and you can access these from the Members Enclosure.

Remember it is important to note that the focus is on the management of your IT environment, not, for example, on how to operate a computer system.
